7 U Studios

7U - Cattle - Right Rib

7U was the cattle brand ran by my grandparents in southwest Saskatchewan. Though my husband and I run a different brand for our own cattle, this brand holds the roots of art, ranching, teaching, and family; the four pillars of my life.

7U Studios is the brand that joins the multiple avenues I find myself wandering down. 7U Studios will house:

  • Printed artwork and originals will be listed.

  • Advertisement for workshops and tutorials led by Kelsey.

  • Openings for commissioned work.

  • Featured Studio Work.

  • Exhibition Update.

About the Kelsey.

Raised between the corners of SW Saskatchewan and SE Alberta, Kelsey has art and the land in her blood.

Following her graduation from the University of Lethbridge with a BFA and BEd, Kelsey established her studio in SW Alberta. Kelsey has been teaching in a rural, K - 12 school for nearly 10 years, where she is now primarily teaching, Grade 7 - 12 Art. As a mother, artist, and teacher, Kelsey lives and works alongside her husband on his family’s ranch. Together, they raise their two daughters amidst the very landscape and lifestyle that inspires her.

Kelsey’s art practice has always focused on the deep, yet often fragile connections between people and the land. Driven by a keen awareness of the balance required to sustain this bond, her work subtly navigates the conversations that define our relationship with the natural world. She is equally moved by the kinship found within the ranching and agricultural communities; her work honors the relationships of those who labor alongside one another, bonds that remain deeply ingrained in the traditional ways of skills, art, and culture.
